It appears we have started a new family tradition.  Geocaching on Thanksgiving with family!

Last year we traveled to Van Buren to have Thanksgiving at my wife's sister's house and after the meal we went to find a couple of caches.  We took my wife's nephew and his wife with us and introduced them to geocaching.  I spoke of that adventure in a previous blog post.

This year after the meal we did the same thing.  All four of us jumped into our vehicle and found 6 caches in the Van Buren area.

We went to the Van Buren Park and one of the caches we found there was the VB Park Lockbox (GC19H1X).  We had a good time at the cache.  Prior to going I had noticed that a previous cacher had logged finding the cache container, but not the key.  It would drive me crazy to find the container and not the key.  We arrived at the cache and actually found the key in only a matter of moments.  It was a mix of luck, a good eye by one of us, and one of us thinking outside the box.  We had a good laugh and made another great Thanksgiving memory.

I could not think of a better way of spending Thanksgiving with family.  I also love the new family tradition.

That's how we spent our Thanksgiving too! Fun to do something different and get out and enjoy the day.
